Anthony Pullen of Empolery: “Emporium-Portfolio-Embroidery”

Anthony's life has been woven into the tactile world of textile arts. His journey began in the vibrant landscape of San Francisco, where he honed his craft as a costume and wig designer for local performance artists. That environment demanded creativity, and an absolute fearlessness in experimentation—traits that became the bedrock of his practice today.

Anthony’s work is driven by a passion for stitching and a deep respect for the history of needlework. He recently brought that creative energy to Wilmington, shifting his focus toward the intersection of fine art and functional design. Whether stitching framed art through bespoke embroidery or elevating everyday garments into one-of-a-kind wearable art, his goal remains the same: to create pieces that feel deeply personal and intentionally crafted.

River’s Edge is thrilled to host Empolery, a curated space for DIY embroiderers who value quality and tradition. Anthony offers a collection of essential supplies that he trusts in his own work—including hand-dyed and hand-spun floss, artisanal hand-woven fabrics, and signature handmade slate frames designed for superior tension.

Anthony also offers one-on-one personalized embroidery classes. His mission is to help you develop your unique voice, whether a beginner or a seasoned stitcher looking to master advanced techniques. Personal one-on-one embroidery instructions start at $60 for 4 hours (including material).
